As for the performance, the diesel engine is not as impressive as the petrol one, particularly the petrol CVT variant. That said, the diesel motor isn’t dull but lacks the punch that is present in the petrol-powered Jazz, though the diesel motor does offer good driveability and yields better performance on the highway.
The Honda Brio gets the same 1.2-litre i-vtec petrol mil as the Honda Jazz, albeit slightly detuned for better fuel efficiency. Like all i-vtecs, it’s a gem of a unit. Its fuel-sipping nature, coupled with its peaky power delivery post 6000 rpm, makes it not only fuel efficient but also a delight for enthusiasts.
The petrol motor is far more agile than the lower power output version of 1.3-litre DDiS diesel motor. Even the automatic version is responsive; however, the diesel engine feels a little sluggish and noisy too. Although there are certain challenges related to each motor, Maruti hasn’t really risen above in terms of performance, but overall, the petrol variants are better performer than the diesel ones.
Embodied with exquisite Italian craftsmanship, the Fiat Punto EVO bears no resemblance to the out-phased version of the hatchback.
